DEPARTMENT G                CLASS II - Adult Canning

Mason Hall FCE Club, Superintendents

 

Entries will be taken on Saturday, August 4, 2007 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

In the Domestic Arts Building

 

RULES & REGULATIONS

1.   Exhibitor must be a resident of Obion County or a member of an Obion County FCE Club.

2.   Entries:  Adult Canning will be taken on Saturday, August 4, 2007 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

3.   Exhibitor must be 18 years of age or older.

4.   The department superintendents shall be in complete charge of arranging and showing the exhibits.

5.   NO HOT OR WARM JARS WILL BE ACCEPTED.  All jars must be sealed.

6.   The name of the product and the owner’s name must be on the bottom of each jar or glass at time of entry.

7.  Leave metal rings on all jars to protect the seal.

8.   No exhibitor may have more than one entry in any one lot.

9.   All foods must have been canned since the 2006 Fair.

10. All canned products must be exhibited in standard size quart or pint jars.  No mayonnaise, pickle, or peanut butter jars will be accepted.

11.  Half pint jars may be used for jelly, jams, and preserves.

12.  Entries will not be released until 9:00 a.m. following the Fair.

Lot 1 ONLY

1st - $ 10.00; 2nd - $ 8.00; 3rd - $ 6.00

Lot 1. Four (4) jar collection, One jar any vegetable, one jar any pickle, one jar any fruit, one jar any jam or jelly.  Each collection MUST HAVE ONE OF EACH TO BE JUDGED AS ONE ENTRY.

AWARDS:  Lots 2 - 58      1st - $ 5.00; 2nd - $ 4.00; 3rd - $3.00

Awards:  1st - $25.00; 2nd - $ 15.00; 3rd - $ 10.00

 

Lot 59.   Trio of ( 3 ) different Pickled Vegetables or Fruit preserved in pint jars and displayed in a Decorative Container  or basket

               

 

 

OBION COUNTY FAIR CANNING CONTEST

 

$ 10.00 will be awarded by the Obion County Fair to the winner in each of the following:

 

Lot 60.  Best of Show FRUIT  (chosen from 1st place winners in lots 2 thru 9)

Lot 61.  Best of Show VEGETABLE (chosen from 1st place winners in lots 10 - 20)

Lot 62.  Best of Show PICKLE OR RELISH (chosen from 1st place winners in lots 21 - 39)

Lot 63.  Best of Show JAM OR JELLY (chosen from 1st place winners in lots 40 - 55)

 

Note:  There will NOT be a Ball Awards Contest.
