Junior Market Goat Show

Donnie Guynn, Superintendent

Weigh-in Time:  Wednesday, August 15, 2007 Hunter Miller Livestock Barn  1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Showtime:  Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at 6 p.m.

Rules and Regulations

1.  Pre-entry is recommended.  Entries should be in the Fair office by August 10, 2007.

2.  The show is open to school aged youth (4 - 12 grades) at Fair time.

3.  All goats exhibited must meet USDA requirements and have a scrapie ID ear tag (or other approved ID) permanently attached.  Animals improperly tagged will not be allowed to exhibit.

4.  Any breed or cross breed of goat may show and all classes will be shown by weights.  There will be no minimum weight.

5.  All goats will be weighed and classified prior to the show.  Weights for lots 1, 2, 5, 6, 9, and 10 will be decided at time of show dependent upon  number, minimum, and maximum weights of animals entered.

6.  There will be three (3) classes with two (2) weight lots in each of the following:  doe kids, doe yearlings, and wether kids.  A Grand and Reserve Champion will be selected from each class. 

7.  Wether kids must not exhibit any testicular tissue. Any animal having testicular tissue will be dismissed.  No bucks or billies will be allowed on the fairgrounds.

8.  Wether kids and doe kids must have all milk teeth at weigh-in.  Wethers not having  all milk teeth will be dismissed and does without both milk teeth will be removed to the yearling doe division.

9.  To prevent injury to exhibitor, goats must be polled, tipped, or cushioned.  (Decision for the method used is left to the discretion of exhibitor’s parents.)

10.  Any issue which may arise at show time and is not covered by these rules will be decided by the Superintendent and Fair directors in charge of the barn.  Their decision is final.

 

AWARDS:  1st - $ 30.00; 2nd - $ 25.00; 3rd  - $20.00; 4th - $ 15.00; 5th - $ 10.00

                Grand Champion $ 50.00                     Reserve Champion $ 30.00

 

ANIMALS WILL BE JUDGED BY SIZE, MEAT, AND BALANCE

 

Class I  Doe Kids

Lot 1.  Lightest weight

Lot 2.  Heavier weight

Lot 3.  Grand Champion Doe Kid

Lot 4.  Reserve Champion Doe Kid

Class II  Doe Yearling

Lot 5.  Lightest weight

Lot 6.  Heavier weight

Lot 7.  Grand Champion Doe Yearling

Lot 8.  Reserve Champion Doe Yearling

Class III  Wether Kids

Lot 9.  Lightest weight wethers

Lot 10.  Heavier weight wethers

Lot 11.  Grand Champion Wether

Lot 12.  Reserve Champion Wether
