CLASS III JUNIOR CANNING

All entries will be taken on Saturday, August 4, 2007 from
9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
In the Junior Exhibits Building
Rules & Regulations:
1. Exhibitors must be residents of
Obion County or attend an Obion County School.
2. Entries: Junior Canning will be
taken on Saturday, August 4, 2007 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
3. There will be three (3) groups
of competition. Ages 5-8; Ages 9-13; and Ages 14-18.
4. Any Junior exhibiting in this
Department must be capable of taking part in the process of canning.
5. All canned products must be
exhibited in Standard size quart or pint jars. No mayonnaise, pickle, or peanut
butter jars will be accepted.
6. NO HOT OR WARM JARS WILL BE
ACCEPTED.
7. All jars must be clean on the
outside or they will be refused. No rusty lids.
8. Leave metal rings on jars to
protect the seal. ALL JARS MUST BE SEALED.
9. The name of the product, lot
number, exhibitor’s name, age, and Fair exhibitor’s number must be on the bottom
of each jar.
10. Entries will not released until
9 a.m. Monday following the Fair.
AWARDS: This class will be
judged by the Danish System with premium not to exceed $ 3.00.
Blue Group - $ 3.00; Red
Group - $ 1.50;
“BEST OF SHOW” Rosette will be
awarded in each age group.

OBION COUNTY FAIR CANNING CONTEST
$ 10.00 will be awarded to each
chosen from the following categories:
Lot 36. Best of Show Fruit (
Blue Groups from lots 1 - 4)
Lot 37. Best of Show Vegetable (
Blue Groups from lots 5 - 13)
Lot 38. Best of Show Pickle or
Relish (Blue Groups from lots 14 - 23)
Lot 39. Best of Show Jam or
Jelly ( Blue Groups from lots 24 - 32)
Do not enter these lots - winners
will be chosen after Lots 1 - 35 are judged. Only the Blue Groups will compete
for these prizes.
There will be NO BALL AWARDS this
year.
